We began to discuss student self-assessment/self-evaluation and reflection. This is the skill that sets our ePort apart from a # of the ones that we have researched over the past couple of years. Yes, all ePorts have artifacts, but it is through reflection that true learning takes place.
In our roundtable we found that everyone does something in their classes that ask students to reflect on their learning, although as you can imagine, there are many different definitions, interpretations, and variations: semester self-evals, assessments using common rubrics, reflections concerning the writing process to mention a few.
We are going to continue to work on student self-assessment/self-evaluation and reflection. We'll keep you posted.
