Nov 4 PD Follow up

Dear All,
Thanks for your participation in yesterday’s PD. We appreciate your efforts, energy, Qs, and ideas. A special thanks to Nancy, Phil, and Deb for their seminars. Also, thanks to Sue for the cohort vision and making the day a possibility.

The bottom line for the day: positive things are going to happen when you have teachers working with one another.

Last thought: Here’s just one example of a positive and insightful conversation I had with ePort members yesterday: “So, Ed, what we’re doing is clearly stating the objectives for our course, looking at the assessments, and then deciding on the projects/artifacts that the students can put on their websites to demonstrate that they have met the objectives, right?” Yes!

Let us know your feedback on the day, any changes you’d like to see, and ideas you have for our ePort future. Thanks

Have a great day, Gail, Dave, and Ed

Our ePort Professional Learning Community (PLC) is blossoming. During our time in the labs Tuesday, I saw teachers working with colleagues, sharing expertise and knowledge. For example, Liz showed Carol how to create a link to a sample document. Moreover, Brenden helped Jim with the details of working in Contribute on his web site. These two examples illustrate the work happening on our professional development day.

I am reminded that the best possible contributions that the sub-cohort and cohort can make for each of us as teachers is to help structure time and space for us to collaborate with each other, as each works on his or her individual goals. Teachers have the expertise.
