In our subgroup meeting Chad presented a rubric for e-portfolios. This rubric was in its early stages of development and has not yet been implemented by Chad. We all agreed that it is a good start, but more significantly we found the discussion it spurred quite interesting. We discussed the end results of the e-portfolio cohort...aka: Where are we going? Who will be responsible for the implementation and evaluation of the overall portfolio? How does e-port fit into our curriculums? The discussion was winding as we travelled through our many questions leading to questions leading to further questions. Eventually we realized that there are some important answers (and support) that is needed to truly implement e-portfolio. Some of our questions/needs/ideas are:
Will or how soon will an e-portfolio be a graduation requirement? How much of it will be in class work? How will this effect curriculum? How will this effect curriculum taught by different teachers? E-portfolio must be considered in UBD/curriculum changes and SOON. What are the expectations from administration-graduation requirements, ERICK rubrics, responsibility for time to create the e-port, responsibility to evaluate the e-ports, etc. Without knowing the specifics of how e-port is expected to fit into our curriculum and the overall picture for the implementation of e-port it is hard to find the path we want to take to get there.
