I had my students create videos for a project using iMovie in the MacLab. It was interesting to see how students had limited knowledge working with the program. I found that for a video that was about 7 minutes long, it took about 3 days int he MacLab in order to edit and add the "extra" stuff that makes it look professional. It was very vital to save the project to the labuser because I had two students lose their work by trying to save it to their H:Drive, even after being told repeatedly to save in the Labuser folder. It took a lot of patience and time but it was great to see the students working with the program and we all were learning together. Editing, saving, adding movie clips, pictures, and all that wonderful material added time to creating the video but I really think everyone should try and do this once. Just make sure that the Lab is not being used, cause if you want a longer video then it will take longer. I was told that it takes about an hour per minute of material videotaped to edit and that was right on the money!
Good Luck!
